Job Description:
The Financial Controller oversees the Company’s day-to-day activities and ensures the Company’s finance function is organised and efficient and produces accurate financial and management accounts.
The successful candidate will need to have 2-3 years of proven experience in a similar role with a financial certification or qualification
Position of the job in the organisation:
The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Manager on all matters.
Principal responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flows Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes Preparation of monthly group P&L and balance sheet Timely production of statutory and internal financial reports Statutory and compliance obligations, including statutory accounting and tax issues Support Financial Manager with the cash flow process Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained for all payments. Preparation of VAT returns (assisted by accounting team on a contract basis within the regions mentioned) Correspondence with SARS to resolve pending tax queries Any other job duties associated with this role.PERSON DESCRIPTION
Experience:
Previous financial control and management reporting experience Proven experience of 2-3 years of progressive financial responsibility must be shown Accounting experience in a medium sized company Use of all Microsoft Office packages, in particular, Intermediate Excel Skills Good communication skills – to be able to interpret financial data Have an understanding of VAT and Tax principles A financial certification or qualification is to your advantageSpecific and desirable attributes:
Strong organisational qualities. Excellent interpersonal skills. Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals. Auditing experience. Compliance oriented. Analytical skills. Able to effectively multitask, prioritise and meet strict deadlines Excellent verbal and written communication skills Flexible – overtime may be required to meet required deadlines Previous experience in dealing with VAT and tax in Southern Africa will benefit your application.
