Job Introduction:

G4S Secure Solutions (SA), a leading provider of integrated security management solutions, is building a Talent Pool for a Installation Technician in the Electronic Security Services (ESS) division based at the following locations: North West and Northern Cape, South Africa.

The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which Installation Technician plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.

Role Responsibility:

Main Purpose of the Role

To provide expert service relating to the implementation, installation and maintenance of technology (ESS) contracts and projects on various client sites.

 

Effective administration of the technology contract to ensure sound financial performance

  • Coordinate and manage the profitability of contracts with a focus on maintenance, cost effectiveness and labour.
  • Contract Margin Management; Billable hours, Job Cards etc
  • Record keeping of the administration on the contract/s costs and invoice documentation with accurate information

Effective management of employees

  • Manage subordinates work flow and job requirements.
  • Effective management of staff, in relation to specific job requirements and meeting of deadlines
  • Appropriate allocation of resources to meet operational demands
  • Coordinate with satellite office or Regional Technical Manager work requirements
  • Train, coach and upskill subordinates
  • Evaluate employees performance
  • Ensuring that acceptable standards of behaviour at work are maintained by all subordinate employees, as required by G4S’s code of conduct and disciplinary code.

Effective management of operations

  • Coordinating process flow and activities that have a direct/indirect impact on the outcome and success of contract/project.
  • Coordinate and complete daily tasks with close monitoring of standards and hours of subordinates.
  • Client retention and customer service levels
  • Ensuring that all required formal customer meetings are scheduled, attended and minuted.
  • Maintenance of positive customer relationships
  • Quality Management/Ops Process management – adherence to quality standard
  • Conduct and oversee quality controls and inspections

Effective management of business development function

  • Identifying new business opportunities in the region’s sphere of operations, as well as in terms of growth of business with existing customers.

Health and Safety

  • Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch/region/national safety plans for each year.
  •  Participate in safety forums created by the company for example safety meetings and safety talks
  •  Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
  •  Discuss all safety incidents on all levels
  •  Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meetings/committees/representatives/management
  •  Attend safety education and refresher programmes
  •  Comply with safety policies and procedures at the workplace
  •  Distribute safety information as and when required
  •  Wear protective clothing all the time


The Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12/Matric Equivalent
  • Electronic Security Services experience advantageous 
  • PSIRA Grade E Accreditation 
  • Minimum 2 years Junior Supervisory Management experience advantageous
  • Extensive experience w.r.t. implementation of the following systems:

I. CCTV
II. Access Control
III.Time and Attendance

IV.Intruder Detection
V. Fire Detection
VI. Fire Suppression

Software Knowledge Level

  • Broad knowledge of Time and Attendance.
  • Broad knowledge of Access Control.
  • Broad knowledge of CCTV
  • Strong knowledge base on communication protocols i.e. TCP/IP.
  • Basic Computer literacy and proficiency

Hardware Knowledge Level

  • Broad knowledge of Time and Attendance Hardware
  • Broad knowledge of Access Control Hardware.
  • Broad knowledge of CCTV
  • Broad knowledge of Alarms
  • Broad knowledge of Electric Fencing
  • Broad knowledge of Gate Motors
  • Broad knowledge of Intercoms
  • Broad knowledge of PA systems
  • Strong knowledge base on communication protocol wiring i.e. CAT5.
