Assitant Mechanic

Overview

The Assistant Mechanic is responsible for providing support to the Lead Mechanics. The Assistant Mechanic will perform duties such as : changing oil and tires, replacing hoses and belts, inspecting brakes, and helping to diagnose vehicle issues. They are also required to hand tools to mechanics, to maintain material stocks

Qualifications

 The applicant needs to have a Grade 12 or equivalent qualification 

Experience The applicant needs to have a minimum of 3 year’s demonstrated experience in assisting of repair and maintenance on automotive equipment (Truck and LDV) The applicant needs to have at least 1 year’s demonstrated experience working at a manufacturing plan Duties Production Output and Productivity: Assist with maintaining and repairing of automotive fleet Trucks plant and LDVAssist with repairs and maintenance on truck and LDV enginesAssist with the inspection and services of automobiles and trucksChanges tires, oil (engine, transmission, diff), water coolant Diagnosis Ability: Ability to diagnoses heating and air conditioning systems and assist with repairsAssist with fault finding and services on hydraulic systems and repairsAssist with troubleshoots and repairs on electrical system 12-24Volt Adherence to sound SHERQ principles: Wear the correct PPEAdhere to good housekeeping principlesEnsure all SHERQ requirements are met Ad hoc responsibilities as assigned by Foreman: Housekeeping duties Job Competencies Proven written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of the production processes Ability to meet daily target Attention to detail Numeric skills Safety / quality conscience Systematic Mechanical insight
