Job Description

Key Performance Areas (KPA)

  • Oversee your designated area to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Efficiently manage your stores and handle payments.
  • Maintain and adhere to route lists daily; any changes must be discussed with the sales manager.
  • Support the Sales Manager and sales team as needed.
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key service providers and regional operations managers of major clients.
  • Contribute to and execute the sales plan as directed by the Sales Manager.
  • Supervise event implementations, store renovations, new store openings, and special projects.
  • Maximize sales while minimizing credits
  • Ensure regular store visits, maintain tidy shelves, and guarantee products are well presented.
  • Make sure you have the appropriate kit for cleaning cabinets.
  • Maintain a record of all returns processed in your region.
  • Adhere to the dress code consistently

Sales Procedure

  • Respond to inquiries within 12 hours. For complex inquiries, report to the Sales Manager.
  • Monitor daily sales activity.
  • Visit stores according to your designated calling cycle.
  • Document each customer visit on the daily cover sheet, which should be submitted daily.
  • Submit cover sheets daily, ensuring all required information is provided to the sales coordinator.
  • Complete all administrative tasks in clear, legible handwriting.
  • Submit reports and requests from managers and the sales coordinator by the specified deadlines.
  • Stay informed about out-of-stock products and available substitutes.
  • Maintain an updated cabinet brochure as supplied by our client.
  • Organize your ‘file’ and keep it presentable at all times
  • Participate in the weekly sales meeting.
  • Report any competitor activity and pricing.
  • Gather customer suggestions, samples, and marketing ideas.
  • Provide weekly updates on cabinets gained and lost.
  • Take notes regarding your responsibilities during sales meetings.
  • National Sales meetings will be held occasionally at management’s discretion, where you may need to present on assigned topics.
  • Uphold a professional working standard at all times.
  • Sign the attendance register and clock in and out.
  • Ensure that all shop agreements are accurately completed and accompanied by a copy of the owner's ID

In-Store Sales Duties

  • Upon entering the store, promptly announce your presence and be sure to sign in and out, keeping the store owner or manager informed of your visit.
  • Inform customers about new and promotional products, encouraging fresh listings.
  • Foster strong relationships with store owners and managers within the industry.
  • Adhere to store layouts by following the provided planograms and merchandising standards.
  • Conduct a stock count before taking orders to align with the established merchandising standards.
  • Unpack and merchandise stock correctly, ensuring no items are left in the storerooms.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels for each chain store, avoiding overstocking or understocking.
  • Keep cabinets clean and organized at all times, removing any damaged stock from shelves; perform a thorough cleaning every three months.
  • Place PI labels on all products displayed on shelves.
  • Utilize dump bins on the sales floor for gift wrap and similar items whenever possible.
  • Ensure that the point-of-sale (POS) area is tidy and current.
  • Confirm that there is an adequate supply of POS materials, positioned correctly on the cabinets.
  • Follow the proper ordering procedures relevant to each chain store and cabinet.
  • Only uplift stock when instructed by the Sales Manager, who will provide an authorization number; report any ‘pocket blockers’ or old stock to your Sales Manager for further guidance.
  • Merchandise gift wrap stands neatly, ensuring they are visible in-store.
  • Arrange merchandise so that all labels are aligned and facing the same direction.
  • Negotiate for extra space within stores and explore cross-merchandising opportunities.
  • Establish and uphold high merchandising standards, ensuring cards are organized in tidy rows.
  • Extend courtesy and respect to every customer.
  • Inquire with the store owner or manager if they have any questions.
  • Adhere to the route list and visit all designated stores.

Benefits
  • Basic salary: R10,000 – R18,000 maximum, based on experience.
  • Company car and a fuel card, to be used only during working hours.
  • Tablet provided.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field will be a massive advantage. Proven track record of success in FMCG sales, preferably within the paper, stationary and magazing products industry. Strong networking and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade clients. Highly motivated and target-driven, with a passion for exceeding sales goals. Ability to travel extensively to meet clients and attend industry events. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM software, and other sales tools.
