RPO Recruitment is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Metallurgist to join our client's team. As a Senior Metallurgist, you will play a key role in overseeing and optimizing metallurgical processes to ensure efficient production and high-quality metal products.

Responsibilities

  • Manage metallurgical talent assigned to technical function in the metallurgical plant
  • Assist in ensuring that legal, safety, environmental and hygiene standards are complied with and maintained within the area of responsibility
  • Assist in ensuring that all work is planned, scheduled, executed and monitored in accordance with short-and long-term operational objectives, technical standards and procedures, and statutory requirements
  • Identification of improvement opportunities, business case development, Scoping and execution of approved improvement projects.
  • Analyse relevant processing data the plant, reporting and investigating barriers to effective quality performance, causes of delays and deviations, and ensure mitigating plans are prepared and implemented
  • Improve plant operating performance; reduce waste and delays; promote cost reductions; and achieve a high level of operating efficiency;
  • Stakeholder management - liaison with maintenance, operational & support function personnel to implement plant optimization projects
  • Assist in Managing all plant governance requirements - technical, operational and quality standards audits; and ensures compliance within their section of responsibility
  • Management of the budgets and allocate resources efficiently and contribute to cost effectiveness of the operation.
  • Standby duties for the operation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering;
  • Minimum ten (10) years of metallurgical experience in gold processing
  • Preferably completion of a Management Development Program
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Experience in leading and managing a team
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in the mining industry
