Qualifications At least a B.Sc. Agric degree in Soil Science. A tertiary qualification in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) will be an added advantage. Experience Minimum of 3 years fieldwork as soil surveyor. A high level of GIS knowledge, including the use of ESRI suite (ArcGIS), QGIS and Google Earth applications. Knowledge in Ag Leader® SMS™ software will be an added advantage. Track record of managing projects and achieving goals. Duties Conducting exploratory, reconnaissance and detailed soil surveys. Creating soil classification maps and writing reports. Agricultural spatial data management. Working with the agronomic field team. Translating raw data into agricultural solutions. GIS mapping. Job Competencies Strong ability to work independently. Strong understanding of fertilizer crop requirements. Strong understanding of agronomic principles including soil chemistry, soil physics, agronomy, plant physiology and crop nutrient management. Creative thinker. Excellent language skills (written and verbal English and Afrikaans). Ability to lead and take initiative.
