The Department:

The Engineering Department brings the business to life creating and innovating the software that run our global online gaming operations. This includes systems for marketing and onboarding, lobbies, promotions, CRM, brand website development, web analytics and the supporting frameworks and tools for one of the largest global online gaming groups. Purpose of the Role:

The Solutions Architect typically reports to the Head of Department. A Solutions Architect is a highly experienced professional responsible for designing complex and innovative solutions to meet the specific needs of Betway Group, it’s clients or internal projects. They bridge the gap between technical requirements and business objectives, ensuring that the technology solutions align with the overall strategic goals of the company. This role requires a deep understanding of various technologies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor teams. Overall, a Solutions Architect plays a crucial role in shaping the technology landscape of an organisation by designing and guiding the implementation of solutions that drive business success across the application, infrastructure, and data domains.

Duties include, but not limited to:

Requirement Analysis

Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to interpret and analyze requirements. This involves understanding the business goals, technical constraints, and existing systems and any new requirements that necessitate a solution design being created.

Solution Design

Developing comprehensive technical solutions that address the identified requirements. This includes selecting appropriate technologies, designing system architectures, and planning integration points at a conceptual and/or logical level with the utilization of appropriate design patterns applicable to the level of design abstraction.

Architecture Design

Creating high-level and detailed architecture diagrams, illustrating the components, relationships, and data flows within the proposed solution. This helps communicate the solution's design to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Architectures to be created in alignment with diagrammatic, technological and business standards as defined by the organization.

Technology Evaluation

Staying updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend the best tools, frameworks, and platforms that align with the organization's goals and standards.

Prototyping and Proof of Concept

Building prototypes or proof of concepts to validate the feasibility of the proposed solution and to identify potential challenges early in the development process.

Collaboration

Collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineers, project managers, product owners/managers, and business analysts to ensure the successful implementation of the solution.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation

Identifying potential risks and challenges associated with the proposed solution and developing strategies to mitigate them.

Guidance and Mentorship

Providing guidance, mentoring, and technical leadership to junior architects and engineering teams to ensure they follow best practices and architectural guidelines.

Technical Documentation

Creating detailed documentation for the solution architecture, including design decisions, rationale, and technical specifications. This documentation helps with knowledge sharing and future reference and serves as a blueprint for solution development/implementation.

Client Communication

Presenting the proposed solution to clients, explaining technical details in a clear and understandable manner. Addressing client concerns and incorporating their feedback into the solution design. In most cases the client will be the project team or the software engineering team, but at times will be business stakeholders.

Maintainability, Scalability and Performance

Ensuring that the designed solution is easily maintainable, scalable, efficient, and able to handle anticipated workloads while meeting performance requirements.

Continuous Improvement

Monitoring the implementation of the solution, gathering feedback, and iteratively improving the architecture based on real-world usage and changing requirements.

Project Oversight

Overseeing the execution of the solution implementation to ensure that it aligns with the original design and meets the desired outcomes.

Essential Criteria:

BS IT or relevant tertiary qualification

TOGAF Level 1 – Real IRM

+10 years’ experience in Software Engineering

+10 years’ experience in Software Design Patterns

+5 years’ experience with Cloud Design Patterns

+5 years’ experience in Cloud based deployment & hosting - Microsoft Azure or other

Continuous Deployment / Continuous Delivery

+10 years’ experience with Agile Methodologies

+5 years’ experience in Technology and Product evaluations
