Solar Design

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and innovative Solar Design & Product Support Engineer to lead the design and support of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including building-integrated PV (BIPV) and PV-hybrid systems. This role requires a deep understanding of the solar market, end-user needs, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solar and renewable energy engineering design, as well as a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Solar System & Project Design:
   • Lead the design of solar PV systems, ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry best practices.
   • Develop and define technically and economically feasible applications by performing preliminary engineering/design and project metering.
   • Optimize equipment designs for cost reduction and operational improvements.
   • Create detailed design drawings, including electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, site plans, and equipment layouts.
2. Project Support & Execution:
   • Provide technical and engineering support for the successful implementation of solar projects.
   • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver all elements of solar EPCs or mini-grid installations.
   • Provide subject matter expertise to the Operations Manager and Sales Engineers, offering technical specifications and inputs for tender scope development.
3. Product Management:
   • Identify and select new products for the solar and BESS systems industry.
   • Test and evaluate products prior to adding them to the product line, ensuring they meet certification requirements.
4. Design Innovation:
   • Stay abreast of industry innovations and technological advancements in the solar/BESS industry.
   • Test or trial new innovations, ensuring they are successfully certified and introduced to keep the company at the cutting edge of technology.

Key Performance Indicators:

• Deliver fit-for-purpose PV systems that meet end-user expectations.
• Implement clean, consistent, and efficient designs with minimal site changes.
• Ensure timely and professional submission of RFIs, RFQs, and tender documents.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Engineering degree or diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in solar and renewable energy engineering design, with a focus on Solar PV and BESS systems.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines.
• Experience in energy generation data analysis, virtual PPAs, green tariffs, and wholesale energy markets.
• Proficiency in computer literacy, including MS Office Suite, SAP ERP Systems, and job-specific software.
