ABOUT HILLSIDE:

Our Hillside Aluminium smelter in Richards Bay produces high-quality, primary aluminium for the domestic and export markets.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As an Engineer Automation, you will provide specialised technical services that helps improve the organization's process and automation and control systems through the review, testing, repair and maintenance of these systems.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

•Ensure content of technical documentation for own discipline is maintained to reflect the “as built” condition as per authorized modifications and changes; •Effectively manage Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes relating to Automation and Control Systems; •Ensure the availability of software and application backups; •Manage obsolescence of hardware, applications, systems and software to ensure sustained and continued operations; •Verify Technical Services contractors; •Take shared accountability for the performance of the Technical Services team; •Ensure quality of completed tasks and enhance technical knowledge of team members and other Engineering employees in regard to own technical discipline.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

•Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Automation field; •Experience in Managing and Execution of Technical Specifications is essential; •Experience and more in PLC, HMI & SCADA is essential; •Experience and more in Allen Bradley & Wonderware InTouch is essential; •Experience in Computer Systems & Industrial Networks is essential.

Qualifications for this role are:

• Degree/BTECH/ National Diploma in Electrical Engineering/ Instrumentation/Automation Engineering.
