The interaction of these three lines is referred to as our combined assurance model.

The role of the Group Head of IT Risk Management is a second line role and responsible for the development and implementation of the IT & Cyber Risk policies; systems and tools to ensure execution of the Board approved enterprise risk management program; expanding the data analytics capability across the second line and enabling the first line management teams to benefit from the desired intent of the program by creating and maintaining a strong risk & control environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Group Head IT Risk Management role will continuously evolve to keep pace with the changing business environment and internal control needs. At a minimum, the responsibilities will include:

  • IT Controls: Develop a Hollard IT risk control framework by incorporating relevant IT and Cyber regulations, standards and good practice including but not limited to NIST, COBIT, ITIL and related ISO standards.
  • Risk Management: Development and delivery of a risk-based program of work that enables diverse types of IT and Cyber risk identification; assessment; management; monitoring and escalation of the risks. This will include the development and execution of thematic reviews; indicator development and management; as well as control environment insights etc.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and vulnerabilities related to cyber security, governance, and risk management projects.
  • Ensure thorough understanding of the business environment, strategy, challenges and risks as well as emerging industry trends.
  • Disaster recovery: ongoing development and enhancement of the DR oversight capability to ensure preparedness, detection, response and recovery of Hollard’s core business activities. This includes understanding of the interconnectedness and interdependencies of critical capabilities and activities within the Hollard value chain; and contingencies to manage the associated risks.
  • Incident Management: oversee the appropriateness of the structures, responses and preparedness of the 1st line team to adapt, respond and recover from critical incidents.
  • Assess the IT third-party landscape and enable alignment with ERM practices while ensuring IT and Cyber risks are identifies, managed and monitored.
  • Data Analytics- drive the data analytics capability across the second line with value enhancing outcomes for the first line.
  • Digitisation - support and enable automation of the risk management capability to enable fast response to risk data, provide insights and enable risk-based decision making.
  • Develop and deliver a cycle of penetration tests.
  • Advisory & engagement: Proactively supports first line management in management of the risk and control activities. Active participation in relevant meetings or forums by ensuring readiness to engage and providing related insights.
  • Continuous engagement and assessment of the first line IT and Cyber risk management capabilities.
  • Enable external IT and Cyber Risk reviews to support independent reviews.
  • Reporting: development and delivery of Group wide IT risk and cyber reports, including Board Committee.
  • Actively drive personal development initiatives to ensure skills remain relevant to contribute to the evolving business needs.
  • Maintain a team of professional staff with sufficient knowledge, skill, experience and professional certifications to meet the requirements and needs of the business.
