About the role



We are currently on the lookout for an experienced Site Supervisor – Underground to be based at our client site in Musina in Limpopo.

The primary purpose of this critical role is to manage on site DTH Orica teams, plant and ancillary equipment in accordance with the service level agreement, corporate and regulatory standards. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of the Orica SHES requirements, as well as complete adoption of CHECKPOINT, and Quality programs.

What you will be doing

Providing analytical/decision support to Area Manager on continuous improvement plan for decreasing operational costs; Assuming primary responsibility in coordinating the various Orica departments/ functions on site; Participating in the short, medium, and long-term planning activities of the site; Completing mandatory monthly inventory counts and reconciliations, safety meetings, annual Letter of Assurance and ensure all actions assigned to the Site are completed; Completing Audits and inspects site operations to ensure regulatory requirements are met and are performed safely in accordance company policies; Ensuring mandatory training of all employees is completed and documented and supervising employees’ performance;  Assisting in preparation of fixed cost budgets, capital expenditures, staffing, equipment requirements, and an updated Resource Model; Analysing site inventories to minimize product quantities and improve site profitability through stock rotation and management; Scheduling daily activities of employees to meet customer requirements and ensuring proper management of site including raw material ordering, and preventative maintenance; Communicating and implementing action plans to address any operational issues; Maintaining, developing, and increasing accounts in a safe and profitable manner while meeting corporate goals and improving customer satisfaction;  Communicating regularly with customers seeking opportunities for improving Orica services.

What you will bring

Mining Engineering degree or equivalent; Blasting Certificate or equivalent D&B certificate; At least seven years’ underground mining experience and mass mining experience; Experience leading a team, including building a collaborative approach; Ability to analyse/impact financial data utilizing SAP, and Resource Modelling; Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders; Strong strategic and commercial acumen supported by sound commercial judgement; Mechanical comprehension of operation/maintenance of equipment; Strong written and verbal communication skills to present strategic logic and recommended pathways, coupled with the ability to present to key stakeholders.
