Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and Enhance QA Processes:
    Analyse existing QA frameworks, tools (e.g., Selenium, Postman), and processes. Identify areas for improvement in QA planning, test automation, monitoring, and team productivity. Collaborate with the product manager to explore AI-powered QA tools.
  • Establish a Standardised Framework:
    Work closely with QA and engineering teams to design and implement a standardised automated QA framework. Define supporting processes and select effective tools. Collaborate with the infrastructure team to ensure the required infrastructure and software are in place.
  • Deployment and Refinement:
    Oversee the deployment of the new QA framework, manage a dedicated evaluation team, and develop training materials for QA teams. Conduct training sessions to guide teams in using the new framework.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement:
    Propose and refine QA process improvements, monitor their impact, and iterate as needed. Establish and track key metrics, such as system function coverage and test execution speed.
  • Expand and Maintain QA Capabilities:
    Maintain the automated QA testing infrastructure and identify automation opportunities across software components (UI, backend, performance). Design and develop automation script frameworks, integrate scripts into the post-build process, and troubleshoot test build failures.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Documentation:
    Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of best practices. Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and training to enhance the QA teams' expertise.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    Work closely with software developers and QA analysts to improve regression tests and maintain open communication with team members and stakeholders, providing updates on progress.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience building test frameworks and processes for complex systems with engineering and QA teams.
  • Expertise in automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Postman, or similar.
  • Strong proficiency in functional and non-functional automated test suites.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting build scripts on servers (TeamCity is a plus).
  • SQL scripting knowledge (MySQL is beneficial).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a process-driven mindset.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of practical experience as a QA Engineer or similar role preferred.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies is highly desirable.
