Our client is a producer and distributor of quality animal proteins, animal fats, oils, minerals and frozen meat by-products for application in pet food, livestock feed and aqua feed recipes. Our focus on quality, reliability and nutrition ensures that only the best ingredients are delivered directly to your factory door in full and on time.

We currently have a vacancy for a Driver (Code 14) based at our Rendering plant, Greylingstad, in Mpumalanga.

The overall purpose of the role

Responsible for transporting goods and deliveries to intended destinations. Duties include driving heavy goods vehicles (trucks), and on-time collection and delivery of raw materials, according to the fleet schedule.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the vehicle
  • Day-to-day inspection of the truck and report of all faults
  • Loading and offloading various materials and equipment
  • Ensure adherence to the Road Traffic Act
  • Ensure the safety of other road users by adhering to all the relevant driving protocols.
  • Cleaning of the truck to ensure hygiene protocols are adhered to.
  • Maintaining the Standard Operating Procedures
  • Investigation and reporting of incidents or near misses.
  • All other basic tasks normally associated with the position and can be reviewed from time to time.

 

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar driving role
  • Valid, unendorsed Code 14 driver’s licence with a valid PDP
  • Hands-on and practical approach to the job
  • Must have a contactable reference.
  • No criminal record
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and pressure.
  • Ability to apply/exercise logical thinking.
  • Interested in shift work.
  • Maintaining a professional image (as they will be dealing with company service providers and also responsible to protect the brand)
  • Good sense of direction
  • Advance driver training required.
  • Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety protocols in a typical environment
  • Must pass a drug and alcohol test.
  • Must be willing to undergo other medical tests.
  • Must be a good communicator (written and verbal)
