Purpose
This role will be responsible for leading and overseeing all operational aspects of the Port Elizabeth Depot. This role will ensure the efficient and effective distribution of dairy and principle products while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and customer satisfaction. The Principal Manager will drive operational excellence by managing depot activities, implementing best practices and fostering a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Execution:
•Develop and execute strategic plans that align with company objectives and improve depot performance.
•Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance depot operations and address emerging challenges.
•Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall depot efficiency and effectiveness.
Depot Operations Efficiency:
•performance Metrics: Achieve operational targets related to receiving, storing, and distributing dairy products.
•Implement and refine processes to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and minimise delays.
•Resource Utilisation: Optimise the use of resources, including staff equipment and facilities to ensure smooth operations.
Inventory Management :
•Maintain accurate inventory records and manage stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
•Monitor inventory turnover rates and adjust stock levels based on demand forecasts and trends.
•Implement measures to minimise inventory loss, damage, and spoilage.
Financial Performance :
•Manage the depot budget effectively, ensuring expenditures are within approved limits.
•Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement strategies to manage operational expenses.
•Provide accurate and timely financial reports and forecasts related to depot operation.
Qualifications and Experience:
•Grade 12/ matric and/or equivalent.
•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in management or logistics are advantageous.
•Proven experience in a managerial role within the logistics or distribution industry, preferably in the dairy or FMCG sector.
•Advanced experience in managing depot operations including receiving, storage and distribution of products.
•Experience with budget management, financial reporting and performance metrics analysis.
•In-depth understanding of logistics, inventory management and distribution processes.
•Familiarity with health, safety and environmental regulations especially as they pertain to the dairy industry.
•Knowledge of best practices in warehouse management and supply chain operations.
