Hire Resolve's client, a chemical manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join their team in Amanzimtoti. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance and a passion for safety and efficiency in the workplace.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervision & Leadership
    • Lead and manage a team of mechanical technicians, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of maintenance tasks.
    • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
    • Coordinate training and development for team members to ensure skill enhancement and knowledge of best practices.
  • Maintenance & Reliability
    • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
    • Conduct root cause analysis on mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams on the design, installation, and modification of mechanical systems to improve plant efficiency.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Ensure all mechanical activities comply with Evonik’s safety standards and relevant industry regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and participate in plant safety programs.
    • Ensure team adherence to permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out, and other safety protocols.
  • Operational Support
    • Provide technical support to operations for troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues.
    • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and equipment documentation.
    • Support cost-control efforts by optimizing resource allocation, reducing downtime, and minimizing waste.
  • Project Management
    • Assist in planning and executing mechanical projects, including resource allocation, budgeting, and timeline management.
    • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for specialized maintenance tasks or upgrades.
    • Track and report project progress to senior management, ensuring milestones are met and any delays are addressed promptly.

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Trade certification as a Mechanical Fitter or Millwright will be advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a mechanical supervisory role within a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably within the chemicals or peroxide industry.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
  • Proficiency with maintenance management software (e.g., SAP PM) and CMMS systems.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical codes, standards, and safety regulations in industrial settings.
