Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Security Engineer to manage our company's firewall
infrastructure. The ideal candidate should possess experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining
firewalls, as well as managing and troubleshooting a variety of network security technologies. The
Security Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that our network is secure from external and internal
threats and that business operations are uninterrupted.

Design and implement firewall infrastructure solutions, including appliances, virtual instances, and cloud-based firewalls
Configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and other security technologies
Identify potential network security vulnerabilities and propose solutions to prevent security incidents from occurring
Review and analyze network security logs to identify and mitigate security threats
Collaborate with security teams to improve security policies, procedures, and standards
Develop and maintain technical documentation, reporting, diagrams, and operational procedures
Design, execute and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for firewall infrastructure
Day to day operational support and troubleshooting
Vendor management
Stay current on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and controls.
Understand complex technical issues and managing them within a fast-paced business environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 
Certified security certifications such as NSE4-7 (Minimum NSE4 certified), CCNA R&S (Certified), or similar is desirable.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security
Must have experience with Fortinet
Experience in leading firewall vendors such as, Cisco, Palo Alto will be considered desirable
Knowledge of VPN technologies, network protocols, and routing and switching technologies
Understanding of security standards and regulations
Possess excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network security issues
Knowledge of Linux/UNIX, Windows operating systems, and Shell scripting desirable. 
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge and Skills

Proficient in Information Security Management - Has a sound understanding of security incidents, threats and vulnerabilities, the possible impact of these on business solutions and the required remediation solutions.
Has a sound understanding of information security policies, standards, and industry best practices.
Strong technical aptitude with a passion and excitement for security engineering systems, innovative technologies and solutions for security threats and its range of possibilities and applications, with a commercial understanding of cost-effective security solutions.
Excellent problem-solving skills – Able to collect, organise and assimilate disparate, multiple, and complex security threats or flaws within an environment to swifty arrive at solutions.
High level of self-motivation and drive to meet and exceed on goals and expectations and engage and energise others to deliver on expectations.
Comfortable taking decisions and dealing with a range of problem-solving challenges independently.
Detailed, organised and quality focused – Has an affinity for detail, structure and efficiency, balancing planning, and execution.
Is diligent and vigilantly watches over work processes, tasks, and outputs to ensure accuracy while independently actioning and correcting any quality concerns.
Strong communication skills – Is able to confidently explain and simply complex IT security concepts and their real-world advantages/disadvantages to a diverse business audience.
Collaborative partner - Works effectively across functions and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Is collaborative and able to build sound, professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure and under tight time constraints, efficiently prioritising workloads, balancing multiple, competing priorities, and managing time effectively in a high-volume, fast moving environment.
Enjoys challenging work and has the proven ability to effectively adapt to and manage change.
Is curious and adaptable, finds agile and rapid ways of answering business questions and implementing solutions fast.
