Job summary

We are looking for an exceptional midwife leader who is innovative and committed to making a real difference to our Maternity Service. This is an excellent development opportunity for a senior midwife, to cover a 12 month period of maternity leave.

You will be an experienced midwife who has held previous leadership roles and possess a proven record of delivering improvement projects, have experience of change management and can demonstrate ongoing professional development.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Intrapartum Matron, to support the smooth and safe running of our Inpatient Services, oversee Maternity Workforce & Patient/ Staff Experience.

Experience of managing workforce is desirable although applications will be considered from candidates who can demonstrate transferrable knowledge and skill required for this post

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will work closely with the antenatal & postnatal ward managers, to oversee quality & safety within the clinical environments, ensure patient flow is maintained & closely monitor staff & patient experience.

The post holder will be pivotal in leading service change & development, and providing day to day operational oversight of the Inpatient Unit. This oversight will include partaking in the duty matron rota, providing regular situation reports locally and at regional level, and, provide operational support by taking part in the maternity management on call rota out of hours.

In addition, the post holder will oversee the workforce portfolio for Maternity, and be responsible for overseeing recruitment & retention plans for the directorate. The post holder will be comfortable at writing workforce reports, and be able to provide regular workforce updates to board.
