About the Role
Our client, a forward-thinking entity in the Oil & Gas industry, is seeking a distinguished Lead Geologist to spearhead exploration initiatives. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon assets, leveraging cutting-edge geological tools and data analysis techniques. This role is ideal for a visionary geologist who thrives on discovery and wishes to make a significant impact on the company's future reserves and resource base, guiding a global team of geoscientists in the pursuit of new energy frontiers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the geological evaluation of new exploration opportunities, including prospect identification and risk assessment.
- Develop and manage geological models and interpret seismic, well log, and core data for hydrocarbon potential.
- Oversee the planning and execution of geological fieldwork and data acquisition programs.
- Provide expert geological input for exploration strategy, drilling campaigns, and portfolio management.
- Mentor and guide a team of exploration geologists, fostering technical excellence and collaborative innovation.
- Collaborate closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and management to integrate geological insights into the broader exploration framework.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in oil and gas exploration geology , with a proven track record of successful prospect generation.
- Expertise in seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, and basin analysis.
- Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite) and data management systems.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a remote work setting.
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring junior geoscientists and contributing to strategic decision-making in exploration.
