About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor to manage the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment at their operations near Mahikeng, North West . This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of the mining fleet, minimizing downtime, and supporting production targets. You will lead a team of mechanics and technicians, overseeing all aspects of preventative and corrective maintenance for a wide range of mining machinery. This is an excellent opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities in a vital support function within the mining sector .
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, assigning tasks and ensuring timely completion of work orders.
- Implement and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all heavy mining equipment, including haul trucks, excavators, and drills.
- Oversee diagnostic procedures and ensure efficient and effective repair of equipment failures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and equipment history.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the maintenance workshop and operational areas.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety, skill development, and continuous improvement in equipment maintenance .
Requirements
- Trade Qualification (e.g., Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience with large-scale mining or construction equipment (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu).
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical repair of heavy machinery.
- Knowledge of fleet management systems and maintenance software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
