About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Energy Storage Systems Engineer to contribute to their expanding portfolio of sustainable energy solutions in Polokwane . This role is crucial for the design, implementation, and optimization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) that complement renewable energy generation. You will work with a team of experts to ensure the reliable and efficient integration of storage technologies, playing a vital role in grid modernization and energy independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer BESS solutions, including system architecture, component selection (batteries, inverters, BMS), and control strategies.
- Perform energy modeling, system sizing, and performance simulations for various storage applications.
- Develop technical specifications and procurement documents for BESS equipment and services.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of energy storage systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to BESS operation and performance.
- Ensure designs and installations comply with all relevant safety standards, electrical codes, and grid interconnection requirements .
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a strong focus on energy storage systems .
- Proven experience with battery technologies (e.g., Li-ion), power electronics, and battery management systems (BMS).
- Familiarity with grid codes, interconnection standards, and regulatory requirements for energy storage.
- Proficiency in simulation and design software relevant to energy storage systems.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
