About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their forward-thinking team, with the primary location being Pretoria , but offering full remote work. This role is pivotal in the planning, analysis, and optimization of complex power grids and energy infrastructure. You will leverage advanced simulation tools and your deep technical knowledge to address challenges in grid stability, load forecasting, and the integration of renewable energy sources. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced power flow, short-circuit, and stability analyses for transmission and distribution networks.
- Develop and implement strategies for grid modernization, including smart grid technologies and demand-side management.
- Perform load forecasting and generation capacity planning to ensure reliable power supply.
- Evaluate and integrate renewable energy sources (solar, wind) into existing power systems.
- Develop technical specifications for power system equipment and protection schemes.
- Provide expert consultation on power system design, operation, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in power system analysis and design.
- Expertise in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, or PSCAD.
- Strong understanding of grid codes, protection systems, and fault analysis.
- Proficiency in data analysis and developing technical reports for complex systems.
- Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration with diverse teams.
