About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive and diligent Health and Safety Officer to join their operations team in Bloemfontein . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Your role will involve conducting regular inspections, providing training, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. This is a critical position for maintaining operational integrity and fostering a strong safety culture within the Free State mining sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in line with legislation.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Investigate all workplace accidents and incidents, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Deliver health and safety training programs to employees at all levels.
- Maintain health and safety records and ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements in Bloemfontein .
Requirements
- National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAIOSH).
- Sound knowledge of South African OHS Act and Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and investigative skills.
