JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented candidate to join our team in a Customs Clearing & Freight Forwarding role. Only candidates currently residing in Cape Town or Durban will be considered. The successful candidate must have strong experience in import and export customs processes, ocean and air freight, and customs compliance. Role and Responsibilities
- Registration of shipments on Easy Clear
- Compile full import/export documentation for ocean freight shipments including framing of BOE to obtain SARS release and processing of VOC's and customs acquittals.
- Process and submit appeals to SARS and manage Deferment account reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit Shipping / Landing Orders.
- Prepare documents for shipping lines, Chamber of Commerce etc.
- Process Cargo Dues Orders and submit cargo manifests (OTC/ACS)
- Prepare, stamp and release B's/L
- Process clearances of ships spares for airfreight shipments.
- Coordinate the delivery of ships spares.
- Liaise with internal & external customers to ensure they are kept fully updated at all times.
- Ensure operational records, spreadsheets and filing are always maintained accurately. Financial & Invoice Processing
- Prepare cost estimates / quotes based one the customers specific requirements.
- Check and authorize all related creditor invoices.
- Obtain final approvals, prepare AP documents including P/O's, and submit to finance.
- Track payments and confirm receipt with stakeholders.
- Monitor Transnet/NPA account balances for operational use
- Invoice customers Compliance & Regulatory Support
- Ensure adherence to customs protocols and compliance with SARS, Transnet and other government agency regulations.
- Monitor tariff classification and customs duties for imports / export shipments
- Stay fully updated on the NCAP (New Customs Act Program) and implement changes effectively.
- Ensure full compliance with all import/export requirements Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Relevant diploma/certificate in customs clearing & forwarding field.
- 5+ years' experience in ocean / air imports & exports environment.
- Strong knowledge of customs documentation, tariff headings, incoterms and trade processes
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Preferred Skills
- Experience working on Easy Clear software essential.
- Experience in processing Customs VAT & Duty refunds highly advantageous. Core Competencies
