(1811) Junior Economic Statistician

- Collect, compile, process and analyse statistics, and share findings with the internal team.
- Update and maintain the statistical database by verifying the accuracy of data received, validating source data and liaising frequently with data providers.
- Analyse economic conditions and assist in preparing comprehensive draft economic reports.
- Liaise with and provide statistical information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate understanding and application of methodological standards to ensure adherence to international best practices.
- Assist with special projects and conduct research on statistical methodologies.
- Perform general administrative and ad hoc tasks as required. To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:
- an Honours degree (NQF 8) in Economics, Statistics, Finance or a related field; and
- two years’ experience in the field of statistics, economic analysis and financial economics. Additional requirements include:
- an affinity for data, statistics and economic analysis;
- an aptitude for compiling data using computerised systems;
- initiative, with analytical and problem-solving skills;
- task-orientated, with excellent time management skills and a strong work ethic;
- ability to perform effectively in a deadline-driven environment and maintain quality under pressure;
- skills in managing complexity, ambiguity and high volume and unstructured data;
- ability to work independently and within a team or project environment;
- proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products;
- good communication and interpersonal skills;
- good report writing skills; and
- the ability to pay attention to detail.
