Introduction

Are you a detail-driven Print Estimator who understands how to turn customer briefs into accurate, commercially viable quotations?

Our client is looking for a Junior Estimator with solid experience in the printing industry to join our Pretoria-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands Litho and Digital printing, can work confidently with costing and supplier pricing, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and turnaround time matter.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations across all print divisions
•Review customer briefs, artwork and specifications to determine production requirements
•Calculate costs for paper, ink, coatings, press time, finishing, binding, packaging and logistics
•Evaluate different production methods to identify the most cost-effective solution
•Use Quick Easy or relevant estimating systems to prepare detailed quotations
•Source outwork and obtain competitive pricing from suppliers and service providers
•Maintain up-to-date material and supplier pricing
•Prepare quote revisions when customer specifications or requirements change
•Work closely with Sales to ensure RFQs and quotations meet required turnaround times
•Provide practical alternatives and recommendations to customers where appropriate
•Liaise with clients when required to clarify specifications and requirements
•Identify production risks, waste allowances and potential cost inefficiencies
•Create accurate job tickets and ensure complete supporting documentation
•Collaborate with Sales, Production, Procurement and Design to ensure smooth project handovers
•Maintain organised and accessible estimating records and historical job data
•Assist with internal sales tickets and other estimating-related activities
•Contribute to improving costing models, estimating processes and overall efficiency
•Perform additional duties as reasonably required by management

Desired Experience & Qualification

•Matric with strong English and Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy
•3 to 5 years' practical experience in print estimating
•Strong understanding of Lithographic and Digital printing processes
•Strong working knowledge of Quick Easy or another print-estimating platform
•Experience with print costing, job tickets and production workflows
•Experience sourcing outwork and negotiating supplier pricing
•Understanding of print materials, finishing, production capacity and logistics
