Duties & Responsibilities

Role Overview

The Draughtsman is responsible for producing accurate, detailed electrical drawings and documentation that support the design, manufacturing and commissioning of engineered drive systems. This includes creating schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules using E‑Plan or similar electrical CAD tools. The role works closely with electrical design engineers, mechanical engineers and project teams to ensure all drawings meet technical, safety and compliance standards.

This is an office‑based position at Limbro Business Park, offering exposure to complex industrial projects and a highly skilled engineering environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Drafting & Documentation

  • Produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single‑line diagrams, panel layouts, termination diagrams and cable schedules.

  • Create and maintain drawing registers, revision control and documentation packages.

  • Translate engineering concepts and specifications into accurate, production‑ready drawings.

 

E‑Plan / CAD Design

  • Use E‑Plan, AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools to generate high‑quality electrical drawings.

  • Build and maintain symbol libraries, macros and project templates.

  • Ensure drawings comply with internal standards, industry regulations and client requirements.

 

Component & System Integration

  • Draft layouts and wiring for MV/LV drives, DC drives, motors, transformers, resistors and switchgear.

  • Support the integration of PLC‑based control systems, safety circuits and instrumentation.

  • Work closely with engineers to ensure seamless alignment between electrical, mechanical and control designs.

 

Manufacturing & Project Support

  • Provide accurate documentation for panel builders, electricians and installation teams.

  • Update drawings based on manufacturing feedback, testing and commissioning changes.

  • Assist with technical queries related to electrical layouts and wiring.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Drafting or related field.

  • 2–5+ years experience as an Electrical Draughtsman in industrial, mining or heavy‑engineering environments.

  • Strong proficiency in E‑Plan (preferred) or AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Experience producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts.

  • Understanding of motors, drives, transformers, switchgear and industrial control systems.

  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications and convert them into accurate drawings
