To safely and effectively operate the mine winder for the haulage of ore, person, materials, and equipment during a shift.

COMPETENCIES:

Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Starts and takes control of Winder.
Communicates winding engine defects and sub-standard conditions to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
Performs ore pulling operations from relevant levels.
Transports people by means of a winder.
Coordinates winding activities with total process requirements.
Compiles correct shifts reports.
Escalates abnormal operations problems to appropriate Engineer or Manager.
Respond to standard signals.
Assists during breakdowns or emergencies.
Adheres to applicable legislation with regards to winding plant.
Maintains the housekeeping standards in the work area.
Ensures safe and reliable workmanship.
Adheres to all safety, emergency and first aid procedures.
Interacts with other teams and systems.
Maintains own safe and productive workplace.
Advises on defects and abnormalities to appropriate Engineer or Manager.

Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Physical Science) or NQF 4 equivalent
DMRE Winding Engine Drivers Certificate
Banksman/Onsetter Certificate
3 Years working experience in shaft barrel as a Banksman/Onsetter or Shaft Timberman
2 years double drum winder experience
2 years vertical shaft experience
