Description

Drawing Review & Material Planning:

  • Review engineering drawings and extract accurate material schedules.

  • Maintain, update, issue, and file drawings via the master drawing register.

  • Generate schedules for spare parts and organize assembly of standard stock items (e.g., hose tails, swing bolts, nameplates).

Procurement & Subcontractor Management:

  • Raise purchase orders and liaise directly with specialized subcontractors across machining, rolling, laser cutting, and dished ends.

  • Issue purchase orders for electrical subcontractors, transport logistics, and third-party services.

  • Provide secondary cover for consumables buying as required.

Registers, Stock & Compliance:

  • Maintain key operational registers, including laser cutting and flexible hose registers.

  • Oversee gauge and strong room equipment calibration schedules.

  • Perform etching on flexible hoses and plan delivery/collection routes as needed.

Audits & Continuous Improvement:

  • Conduct internal operational audits and supplier audits to maintain high standards of quality and compliance.

Profile

Education: Grade 12 / Matric.

Experience: Proven experience in a planning, procurement, or buying role within an engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing environment.

Technical Ability: Demonstrated capability to read and interpret engineering drawings into accurate material and purchasing schedules.

Subcontractor Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of purchase order processes and supplier/subcontractor management.

Systems & Licensing: Computer literate (MS Office), hands-on ERP system experience, and a valid driver's license.

Advantageous: Exposure to machining, rolling, laser cutting, or pipework, or experience conducting internal/supplier audits.
