Introduction

Our Client, an established organisation within the FMCG/distribution sector is seeking an experienced, hands-on Dispatch & Warehouse Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day warehouse and dispatch operation.

The successful candidate will oversee picking, checking, loading, dispatch, stock control, staff performance and vehicle readiness, ensuring orders are processed accurately and trucks depart on time.

This role requires a genuine operational manager who takes full ownership of people, stock, processes and dispatch performance. The successful candidate must be comfortable being actively involved on the warehouse floor and managing a busy operation under pressure.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the warehouse, picking, checking, loading and dispatch teams.
  • Ensure customer orders are picked accurately and dispatched on time.
  • Ensure the correct stock is loaded onto the correct vehicles and routes.
  • Manage approximately 2,000 SKUs while maintaining high levels of stock accuracy.
  • Manage and motivate warehouse employees, including attendance, productivity, performance and discipline.
  • Oversee vehicle readiness, cleanliness and loading requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate refrigeration and temperature controls are maintained where required.
  • Manage FIFO/FEFO stock rotation and appropriately control damaged, expired and short-dated stock.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies, picking errors, shortages and damaged goods.
  • Ensure scanners and relevant ERP/WMS systems are used correctly throughout the warehouse.
  • Maintain high standards of warehouse hygiene, food safety, health and safety, and housekeeping.
  • Work closely with Finance, Purchasing, Sales and Delivery teams to resolve operational issues.
  • Monitor operational KPIs relating to picking accuracy, dispatch accuracy, stock accuracy and on-time vehicle departures.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Minimum 5 years' warehouse/distribution management experience.
  • Proven experience managing a warehouse team and high-volume dispatch operation.
  • Strong stock control and dispatch experience.
  • Experience within FMCG, foodservice or wholesale distribution would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience working with scanners and ERP/WMS systems.
  • Strong staff leadership and people-management ability.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced operation under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of personal accountability and operational ownership.
