Introduction

We are recruiting for a UTILITY II OPERATOR – PLATE MANUFACTURING based in PE within the automotive industry.

 

Job Purpose

To operate, repair and perform maintenance work on equipment and machines to minimise and prevent failures / breakdowns on production operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas

MAINTENANCE SUPPORT (55%)

•           Sets and maintains the following machines as per suppliers’ operating manual.

•           Negative and Positive Pasting lines including expander, tab blanker, hopper, divider and stacker.

•           Ensures each line of equipment produces the correct quality product at the nominal production rate for that equipment.

•           Ensures all extraction and cooling systems are kept in the correct working condition.          •           Machine operation as per supplier operating manual specifications.

•           Safe handling / operation of machines and equipment.

•           Incident reports.

•           Damage minimized.

•           Availability % of equipment / machines.

ADMINISTRATION (15%)

•           Ensures appropriate job card is completed prior to maintenance work starts.

•           Completes the production logs, attribute charts and SPC data as required in the assembly work instructions.        

•           Job cards completed prior to maintenance work.

•           Production logs completed as per work instructions.

COMPLIANCE (10%)

•           Operates within controls and procedures in order to ensure the integrity of the Company.

•           Reports risks or areas of concern to management within area of responsibility.

•           Promotes compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures to prevent fruitless, wasteful and irregular expenditure.       

•           Compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.

•           Risks reported to Manager.

•           Cost and expenditure monitored – waste minimized.

COST CONTROL (10%)

•           Supports the effective and transparent use of financial and other resources.

•           Limits expenditure, reduces costs and ensures deviations from budgetary limits are reported to direct Manager. 

•           Cost and expenditure monitored – waste minimized.

CUSTOMER SERVICE (10%)

•           Maintains effective working relationships with employees and customers to render highest quality of services.

•           Identifies and solves problems whilst demonstrating a high level of integrity in line with company core values.          

•           Client / employee satisfaction index.

•           Comebacks / discrepancies minimized.

Desired Experience & Qualification

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM        

  • Grade 12 Certificate (NQF 4)
  • Trade Test:  Electrical or Mechanical 

EXPERIENCE

MINIMUM        

Up to 3 years’ Operator experience in a manufacturing environment
