Compounder vacancy

We are seeking an experienced lab compounder to join our team. You will be responsible for supporting our perfumers and preparing creative formula samples in a timeous manner.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years of experience in compounding, preferably in the fragrance industry.

He or she is also used to working in a fast-paced environment with little supervision and guidance, pays attention to detail and is self-motivated.

Key responsibilities and main duties

• Retrieves ingredients as indicated on the formula, ensuring only QC approved ingredients are used.
• Calculating quantities if required
• Compound fragrance material from formulas ensuring accurately weighing and measuring of material
• Identifies and melts solids using hot plates, and ensuring that materials are not overheated.
• Prepares solutions and dissolve powders and crystals
• Adhere to mixing instructions, adding materials in the best possible order to ensure a quality outcome, and applying good techniques
• Restocks supplies and labels containers of raw materials when needed.
• Uses equipment that is in proper working condition and keep the equipment clean
• Keeps workstations clean at all times.
• Notifies procurement of missing raw materials
• Follows hazardous material protocols and wears personal protective equipment and clothing
• Manage quantities prepared to conserve raw materials and record the data of materials used
• Perform in-process quality procedures
• Labelling all samples
• Manage packaging required for samples

• Proven experience with sample compounding
• Experience with a wide range of raw materials
• Knowledge of inventory management
• Knowledge of GMP
• Knowledge of quality standards
• Focus on the detail
• Accurate
• Experience with basic reports
• Good communication skills
• Basic mathematical literacy
