The Field Service Technical Assistant will assist the Field Service team in-house and on-site with services. The Assistant must employe his trade skills & experience in servicing, repairing & maintaining mechanical equipment. The Assistant must be willing & able to work both on the surface & underground in a mining environment & undergo & pass a medical fitness examination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out work according to the job card or as directed, in full & on time
  • Carry out related Field Service work as & when required
  • Carry out all work in accordance with legislative norms & engineering standards
  • Maintain trade tools & general equipment in good order
  • Maintain the work environment in a clean state & to a safe standard

Additional Requirements

  • Be available to work overtime & on public holidays as & when required
  • Self-drive & able to work unsupervised or with limited supervision
  • Valdi code 08 driver's license
  • Valid passport would be advantageous
  • Willing to undergo training & learn additional job-related skills
  • Willing to carry our hands on work that may not specifically relate to mechanical services such a lubrication systems or hydraulics, such as Materials handling drivers repairs, condition monitoring, mechanical fitting etc.

Minimum Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate NQF 4
  • N3 mathematics, engineering science, electrical trade theory & mechanic will be an advantage
  • Successful completion of a psychometric test
  • General knowledge of installing/servicing/repairing of mechanical rotating equipment
