The position of
Colour Technician
has arisen within our
Decorative Lab
based in
Krugersdorp.
This position will report to the
Development Manager.

Preference will be granted to Employment Equity candidates.

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to provide colour support to all external and internal customers. This position exists to maintain and improve the Kansai Plascon Inspired Colour System. Maintaining the Kansai Plascon Colour Support System involves resolving Customer Colour Complaints, updating existing databases, attending to customer colour requests and supporting internal customers with any colour related topic. The major expectation is customer satisfaction and reduction in customer complaints, as well as maintaining and improving a functioning colour system.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Resolving customer colour complaints.
  • Processing customer colour requests.
  • Online and telephonic customer colour assistance and support.
  • Preparing colour standards (electronic and physical)
  • Reviewing POS Merchandise (colour card and product brochures)
  • Preparing colour accurate wet samples for POS Merchandise (in store colour collateral)
  • Provide colour service support to internal and external customers.
  • Reviewing colour reports and other quality documents and updating colour files on intranet.
  • Maintain laboratory housekeeping.
  • Inventory control of tintbases, colourants, standards, fan decks, stripe cards and other colour collateral.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments.
  • Ensure healthy and safe working practices in the department.
  • Ensures compliance in accordance with ISO Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental codes of practice.

Skill, Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

  • Colour testing and matching
  • SAP proficiency
  • HEAT software proficiency
  • Colour software proficiency
  • Product testing
  • ISO documentation
  • Instrument calibration
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)

Educational Qualifications & Personal Attributes:

  • NDip (Chemistry related field)
  • 1-2 years Coatings or Colour laboratory experience
  • Computer literacy
  • Problem solving skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Basic pigment chemistry knowledge
  • Good communication skills
  • Good laboratory practices
