A global security technology company is seeking an
Electronic Security Systems Technician (Level 2)
to support its growing South African operations. This role is
office-based
with occasional site visits, and requires a hands-on technician who can provide technical support, assist partners, troubleshoot system issues, and ensure high-quality installation and servicing standards.

You will serve as the
regional technical point of contact
, supporting installers, distributors, and customers while working closely with international engineering teams.

Requirements
Technical Support & Engineering

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support to installers, distributors, and system users.
• Perform diagnostics, advanced fault-finding, and system troubleshooting across electronic security products.
• Assist with Proof-of-Concept installations, device commissioning, and system configuration.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and site plans to support installations and service activities.
• Create and maintain technical installation guides, system specifications, and integration documentation.
• Support quality assurance by preparing technical briefs for engineering teams and installation partners.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

• Deliver structured technical training sessions to installation partners and field technicians.
• Prepare training materials, system setup documentation, and competency assessments.
• Provide clear communication and guidance to ensure installers can work confidently with the product range.

Sales & Pre-Sales Technical Support

• Assist the commercial team with product demonstrations, equipment setup, and technical validation.
• Support solution design, basic project scoping, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Participate in customer meetings, offering technical input and practical recommendations.

Collaboration & Reporting

• Work closely with the global engineering team for escalations, product alignment, and knowledge sharing.
• Provide structured feedback from the field to assist product development teams.
• Collaborate with the South African sales team while maintaining technical independence.

Work Environment & Travel

• Office-based role located in the Johannesburg West / Roodepoort area.
• Occasional travel to major centres (Cape Town, Durban) — approx. 6 trips per year.
• Periodic site visits within Gauteng for troubleshooting, commissioning, or technical support.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong background in electronic security systems, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and low-voltage electronics.
• Hands-on experience with fault-finding, servicing, repairs, and commissioning.
• Ability to read and understand system schematics, wiring diagrams, and site layouts.
• Practical understanding of IP networking fundamentals: addressing, switching, DHCP.
• Confident interacting with installers, customers, and technical partners.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities, especially in technical contexts.
• Proactive, self-managing, and able to operate independently as the regional technical point of contact.
• Comfortable balancing office-based support with occasional hands-on technical work.

Qualifications

• N6 Diploma, National Diploma, or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Relevant experience in CCTV, access control, alarms, intrusion, or electronic security.
• CAD experience (advantageous).
• Additional vendor certifications (e.g., Hikvision, Axis, Gallagher, Lenel, Milestone, Bosch) will be beneficial.
