Albatross Security Services is looking for a skilled Site Commander with impeccable judgement, leadership ability, and a commitment to detail to manage our security operations and team effectively.

Key Responsibilities: What You'll Be Doing

As the Site Commander, you will be the linchpin of our on-site operation, responsible for the safety, security, and efficiency of your team and the premises.

Leadership & Team Management

• Oversee the entire shift of Security Officers, ensuring strict adherence to protocols, immaculate Albatross uniform, and required PPE (Hard Hat, Illuminated Vest, Torch)
• Conduct mandatory Tool-box talks and briefings prior to shift commencement, ensuring all two-way radios are operational.
• Accurately record shift duty times, manage the OB Book and Working Time Sheet Book, and submit the time sheet to Finance by the 10th of each month.
• Plan shifts proactively, ensuring sufficient staff coverage, and have a reliable backup plan for staff absences, ensuring equal sharing of shifts.
• Support and mentor team members, fostering a co-operative environment with open lines of communication. Be prepared to cover secondary shifts if a teammate is absent.

Site Security & Operations

• Maintain constant alertness and vigilance, especially during extreme weather conditions.
• Ensure the site and all perimeter areas are secured, paying close attention to ships' gangways and access points.
• Safeguard all access points. Record all persons accessing the gangway, including issuing and collecting access cards. Report any unreturned cards immediately.
• Use effective communication and level-headedness to de-escalate conflicts. Investigate suspicious activity and, when necessary, apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol until authorities arrive.
• Submit full, clear, and concise written reports in English on daily surveillance activity and all important occurrences.
• In case of serious irregularities or trespassers, follow protocol by contacting Management, SAPS, and Transnet Security. Request surveillance camera checks and take a detailed statement from the trespasser.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a Registered Security Officer with PSIRA, Grade A (proof required).
• PDP with valid driver's license
• Proven experience as a Security Officer or Guard, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Required: High School Diploma.
• Trained in First Aid/BLS is mandatory.
• Tech-savvy with demonstrable experience using surveillance systems.
• Excellent knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
• Impeccable communication and report writing skills in the English language.
