X2 (DURBAN / JHB) for SEW Eurodrive's

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble planetary gearboxes and related drive components according to technical drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections during and after assembly.
  • Perform mechanical fitting, alignment, and torque tightening using appropriate tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure product integrity and functionality.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment following company health and safety standards.
  • Record assembly data and complete relevant job documentation.
  • Assist in gearbox testing and troubleshooting under supervision when required.
  • Report any defects, deviations, or quality concerns promptly.
  • Experience working with or assembling gearboxes used in sugar mill applications (e.g., milling drives, diffusers, conveyors).
  • Knowledge of ISO standards related to mechanical assembly or quality control.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Trade Certificate in Mechanical Fitting, Toolmaking, or similar mechanical discipline.
  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in the assembly of gearboxes, rotating equipment, or heavy mechanical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, torque charts, and assembly procedures.
  • Familiarity with planetary gear systems is a strong advantage.
  • Good understanding of mechanical tolerances and measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
