About the role

Highpoint Manufacturing is an ISO-aligned, fast-paced manufacturing environment. We are seeking a qualified Red Seal Welder with strong pipework capability to support fabrication and production deliverables. This role requires consistent quality, the ability to work accurately from drawings, and a disciplined approach to safety and standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform 
    MIG and TIG welding
     on 
    mild steel and stainless steel
     to required quality standards.
  • Execute 
    pipework fabrication and welding
     (majority of work will involve pipe-related tasks).
  • Complete 
    positional welding
     accurately (all required positions relevant to production work).
  • Read and interpret 
    technical drawings and weld specifications
    .
  • Fit, assemble, and tack components prior to welding.
  • Inspect welds/components and complete rework or repairs where required.
  • Maintain workmanship and documentation in line with 
    ISO / internal quality standards
    .
  • Work effectively within a production team under time pressure.
  • Follow all safety procedures and comply with management instructions.
  • Work overtime/weekends when operational requirements demand it.
  • Assist other departments when reasonably required.

Minimum requirements

  • Red Seal Welder certification
    .
  • 5+ years' practical welding experience
     in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Proven pipework welding experience
     (please describe in your application).
  • Confident working with 
    MIG and TIG
     on mild steel and stainless steel.
  • Strong ability to interpret drawings and work to spec.
  • Reliable attendance, good timekeeping, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Medically fit
     to work at heights and in confined spaces (as required).

Selection process

To be considered, applicants must successfully complete the following:

  • Practical welding test (pipework-heavy):

Shortlisted candidates will complete an in-house practical assessment. The majority of the test will involve pipework fabrication and welding, and will be evaluated on:

  • Fit-up and alignment
  • Weld quality and consistency
  • Accuracy to drawing/specification
  • Workmanship and overall finish
  • Safe working practices

Drug test requirement:

Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a drug test as part of the pre-employment process. Appointment/offer will be contingent on a satisfactory result.

Advantageous (preferred)

  • Prior experience in ISO-controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working to formal welding procedures/standards (e.g., internal WPS or equivalent).
  • Strong track record of low rework and high-quality output.
