The Role

We are seeking to appoint a data analyst to work in our Transformation Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of university-wide change, supporting the identification of key change initiatives from early intervention through to implementation.

You will provide analysis and actionable insights to enable evidence-based decision-making and drive strategic improvements across the university. Your work will enhance student outcomes, operational efficiency, and institutional performance.

You will work closely with stakeholders, understanding their needs, building strong partnerships and adopting a collaborative approach to support successful change initiatives. You should have demonstrable experience of stakeholder management and excellent communications skills.

You should have a high level of proficiency utilising data visualisation tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python or R, but your role goes beyond producing data. You should also be able to confidently analyse, interpret and communicate complex data to key decision-makers.

Key Outcomes & Accountabilities

Strategic Insight Delivery

Deliver timely, accurate, and actionable insights that inform university-wide transformation initiatives, including curriculum review, student success, and resource planning.Translate complex data into clear narratives that support strategic planning and performance monitoring.

Enhanced Decision-Making Capability

Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualisations that empower stakeholders to make informed decisions aligned with institutional goals.Promote data literacy and enable self-service analytics across academic and professional services teams.

Improved Data Quality and Governance

Ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with institutional data governance policies and UK data protection regulations.Contribute to the development of robust data models, KPIs, and forecasting tools that support long-term planning.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration

Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into actionable insights.Support cross-functional projects by providing data expertise and facilitating evidence-based discussions.

Operational and Regulatory Excellence

Extract and manipulate data from internal and external sources to support performance reporting and benchmarking activities, including, for example, HESA, NSS, TEF, and league table submissions.Enhance operational performance through data-driven insights into, for example, student lifecycle processes and academic planning.

Success Profile

Essential Experience & Skills

Strong communication skills with the ability to present data clearly to non-technical audiences.Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex datasets to inform decision-making in a large and complex organisation.Understanding of ethical data use and data protection regulations.Experience managing large datasets from diverse sources .Proficiency in data tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau.

Desirable Experience

Familiarity with UK higher education datasets (e.g., HESA, UCAS, NSS).Experience with statistical tools (e.g., R, Python, SPSS).Knowledge of student lifecycle and academic planning processes.
