DepartmentUniversity of Venda -> Vice Chancellor and Principal -> Corporate Services -> GRANTS MANAGEMENTJob TitleGRANTS ACCOUNTANTPost LevelGrade 8Job TypeSupport - Donor FundedClosing Date9/1/2026Job RequirementsA Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.At least 4 years of experience in a finance environment.A postgraduate qualification or completion of accounting articles will be an added advantage.Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.Working knowledge of grants or project accounting and reporting.Familiarity with the ITS system will be an added advantage.Duties:Manage the financial accounting of all grant-funded projects, ensuring accurate coding, reconciliations, and compliance with funder requirements, University policies, and applicable regulations.Support the development of realistic budgets for grant applications and proposals, and provide financial guidance to Programme Managers and University Management.Monitor grant budgets and expenditures, verify reported costs for allowability and reasonableness, and provide timely financial updates to stakeholders.Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and invoices for funders, University management, and other stakeholders to ensure effective grant oversight.Analyse grant agreements and contracts to determine reporting requirements, budget constraints, and compliance obligations.Maintain complete and compliant grant files, including invoices, reports, and supporting documentation for all financial transactions.Assist with internal and external audits, provide necessary documentation, and follow up on audit findings to ensure corrective actions are implemented.Contribute to the development and refinement of financial systems, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and reduce financial risk.Identify and flag financial and compliance risks, support corrective actions, and contribute to institutional governance and strategic planning within the Grants Management department.Participate in committees, cross-functional initiatives, and other assigned activities to strengthen the University's grant management capacity.
