Mechanical Foreman

Join our engineering team at the Jessievale Sawmill (in the Ermelo/Carolina/Chrissiesmeer area), where you'll play a central role in ensuring our mechanical equipment performs safely, reliably, and efficiently every single day.

Duties & Responsibilities

What You'll Do

As our Mechanical Foreman, you'll be the heartbeat of the mechanical maintenance team. Your role includes:

• Leading, coaching, and developing artisans and assistants
• Keeping maintenance schedules on track and ensuring top-quality work
• Responding to breakdowns and making smart, fast technical decisions
• Managing resources, spares, and budgets responsibly
• Driving safety, compliance, tidy workspaces, and 5S standards
• Analysing maintenance trends and improving plant reliability
• Supporting projects, shutdowns, upgrades, and continuous improvement

In short: you'll keep the mill moving.

Desired Experience & Qualification

What You Bring

• Grade 12
• N6 Mechanical / Electrical OR T4 qualification / Qualified Artisan (Millwright/Fitter & Turner)
• 5–6 years' mechanical experience in a sawmill environment
• Team leadership experience
• Strong technical ability: hydraulics, pneumatics, conveying systems, fault-finding
• Solid understanding of safe working practices and the OHS Act

Work Environment & Requirements

• Based full-time at Jessievale Sawmill
• Must live in or be willing to relocate to Warburton / near the mill
• Physically fit and comfortable working in heat, dust, and noise
• Willing to work overtime, shifts, standby when needed
• Strong safety habits and sober working behaviour
