About the Role

Simond Private School is seeking an innovative and passionate Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD) and Mathematical Literacy Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will teach learners from Grades 10-12, inspiring both creative and analytical thinking while preparing learners for tertiary and technical careers.

This dual-subject position requires a teacher who can merge creativity with technical precision - someone who sees the connection between theory and real-world application and can cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence in learners.
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach EGD (Grades and Mathematical Literacy (Grades aligned with IEB and CAPS requirements.
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons that integrate conceptual understanding with practical application.
  • Utilise modern design tools and CAD software to support technical drawing instruction.
  • Prepare valid and reliable assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Support learners in developing design, problem-solving, and numeracy skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress and assessment.
  • Foster a classroom environment that reflects Simond's Christian values and holistic education philosophy.
  • Contribute to departmental collaboration and innovation in teaching practice.
Minimum Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in EGD, Mathematics Education, or equivalent.
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education).
  • SACE registration and valid Police Clearance Certificate.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' teaching experience in EGD and/or Mathematical Literacy.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Fusion 360, etc.).
  • Experience with IEB curriculum is advantageous.
  • Clearance from the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO).
Beneficial
  • Experience in mentoring learners for EGD exhibitions or STEAMD competitions.
  • Additional qualifications in Design, Engineering Education, or Technology Integration.
  • Strong background in applied mathematics and design processes.
