SUMMARY:
POSITION INFO:
An experienced General Manager Data Warehouse is required to provide strategic leadership, oversee strategic development, implementation, and management of organizational centralized data repository and data governance framework in Johannesburg on a permanent basis.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B Degree/B Tech/Advanced Diploma in Data Science/Information Technology/Computer Science/Information Systems at NQF7 with 360 credits
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) and The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) certifications
  • Minimum 10 years data management experience including both data warehousing and data governance
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing large-scale enterprise data warehouses
  • Extensive experience with data governance frameworks and regulatory compliance
  • Leading cross-functional teams and driving enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Proficiency in data integration and management tools
  • Strong understanding of data quality and cleansing techniques
  • Business intelligence and analytics platforms knowledge
  • Manage and scale data warehouse infrastructure
  • Data governance frameworks: Data Management Association (DAMA) - Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK), Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM)
  • Technical proficiency in SQL, Python and data modelling techniques
  • Databricks (global data analytics and artificial intelligence company)
  • Google's fully managed, petabyte-scale, low-cost data warehouse for analytics (BIGQUERY)
  • Superscalars and Hyperscalers
  • Project management experience in Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Integrity, professionalism, ethical conduct in data management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure regulatory compliance by monitoring data privacy, security, industry-specific legal requirements to protect organization from fraudulent activities
  • Enhance data quality, security by establishing processes for validation, reconciliation and master data management
  • Be responsible for analytics Centre of Excellence across organization
  • Develop and implement unified strategy, objectives, goals and policies for Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
  • Implement data stewardship framework, assigning roles and responsibilities across business units
  • Manage data storage across entire Enterprise Data Warehouse
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data strategy with business objectives
  • Lead design and implementation of predictive models and algorithms identifying potentially fraudulent activities
  • Ensure use of appropriate analytical tools and platforms enhancing fraud detection and prevention
  • Develop and implement robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Establish data governance committee comprising key stakeholders
  • Promote data-driven decision making advocating use of high-quality data in business operations
  • Implement data classification frameworks ensuring data security and access controls
  • Develop data literacy programs organizing workshops and training campaigns
  • Lead, mentor, and develop diverse teams fostering collaborative mindset
  • Evaluate and implement tools like Collibra, Informatica or Alation for data governance
  • Use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning to automate data quality checks
  • Create enterprise data catalogue for easy discovery and accessibility to data assets
