Disaster Recovery Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP) for critical systems and applications.
• Conduct risk assessments and impact analyses to identify potential points of failure.
• Define and test recovery objectives (RTO/RPO) aligned with business needs.
• Coordinate DR drills and simulations, document outcomes, and lead improvement initiatives.
• Manage backup and recovery infrastructure, ensuring adherence to data protection and retention policies.
• Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and application teams to ensure systems are recoverable.
• Prepare post-incident reports and lead root-cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 22301, NIST, ITIL, COBIT).
• Maintain detailed documentation of recovery procedures and architecture.
• Support cloud and hybrid recovery strategies, leveraging technologies such as Azure Site Recovery, AWS Backup, or VMware SRM

.Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years experience in disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT infrastructure management.
• Strong understanding of data backup technologies, virtualization, and cloud recovery solutions.
• Hands-on experience with DR automation tools and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
• Knowledge of cyber resilience practices and incident response processes.
• Certification(s) preferred:
• Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
• ITIL Foundation
• ISO 22301 Lead Implementer
• CompTIA Security+ / CISSP (advantageous)
