Job Profile:

To provide emergency services to Necsa property and employees in order to protect and save employees as well as surrounding areas against the consequences of fires, accidents, disasters and any other incidents that may lead to property, life and economical loss.

Key Performance Areas

  • Act as First Responder to any fire emergency at Necsa and in the surrounding areas to ensure a minimised impact of damage is caused by an incident under supervision of a Leading Fireman.
  • Rescue employees and property of Necsa to ensure that employees and property are protected and saved during fires, accidents and incidents at Necsa
  • Provide medical assistance and basic life support to employees in emergencies to ensure that vital signs of patients are monitored and lifesaving treatment is provided within the shortest time possible, under supervision.
  • Assist in observations on the execution of emergency drill exercises to ensure evacuation procedures are performed in the prescribed manner.
  • Investigate all fire alarms activated during normal duties as well as after hours.
  • Perform standby duties for rescue for hot work and confined space.
  • Ensure that firefighting and medical ambulance/basic life support equipment is maintained and tested in order to ensure its readiness for any emergency response.
  • Performing operation of equipment and having knowledge of operations.
  • Checking and documenting checklist of vehicles.
  • Filling in of BBS forms.
  • Ensure that Number of injuries are minimized.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

KEY KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Sound knowledge of firefighting and ambulance services.
  • Knowledge of firefighting and medical ambulance equipment.
  • Knowledge of Necsa plant and facilities and surrounding areas.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge MS Office Programmes

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • Grade 12
  • Fire Fighter 1 (IFSTA)
  • Basic Ambulance Assistant course
  • HAZMAT Operation Certificate

Experience:

  • 1 year of experience as Fire Fighter in Nuclear and Chemical Environment.

  • 1 year of experience as Fire Fighter in a Municipality or a Nuclear and Chemical Environment.

General:

  • Code C1 Driver's license.
