We are looking for a Cook to join our Eatfresh team. In this role, you will prepare and serve high-quality traditional and Western meals while ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health standards. The role supports accurate costing through participation in ingredient recording and stock counts, and contributes to overall site performance by maintaining food cost targets.
This position requires incumbents to work Monday to Saturday, from 07:00 – 16:00 (every 3rd Saturday off).

Duties & ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook a variety of traditional and Western meals (e.g., tripe, curries, schnitzel) according to recipes and portion guidelines.
- Bake items such as scones, muffins, pies, and magwinyas to maintain menu variety.
- Ensure meals are prepared on time for service periods.
- Maintain strict hygiene standards in all food handling and preparation processes.
- Comply with health and safety regulations, including sample retention and completion of daily checklists.
- Monitor kitchen cleanliness and ensure compliance with Tsebo's food safety protocols.
- Participate in stock counts to ensure accurate inventory management.
- Record all ingredients used for each meal to assist the manager with costing and participation targets.
- Support cost control by adhering to recipe specifications and minimizing waste.
- Operate the till and process cash transactions accurately.
- Provide friendly and efficient service to customers during meal service times.
- Handle customer queries professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Perform duties that involve walking and carrying food between the stove and serving station (approx. 5 meters).
- Maintain physical fitness to handle the demands of the role safely.
- Uphold honesty and reliability standards; comply with criminal check requirements post-offer.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including punctuality and attendance.
- Cooking and baking skills (traditional and Western cuisine).
- Food safety and hygiene compliance.
- Basic health and safety knowledge.
- Cash handling and point-of-sale operation.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in cooking and baking within a catering or food service environment.
- Knowledge of food handling and hygiene standards.
- Ability to operate a till and manage cash transactions.
