Qualifying Criteria:

  • Grade 10, Grade 11, Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications.
  • Code 08 / 10 driver's license.
  • MQA Competency B Certificate; Relevant qualifications, courses and operating licenses.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in a trackless mining environment.
  • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages.
  • Must be a legal South African citizen.
  • Clear Criminal Record.
  • Declared medically fit for the position by our OHP

Responsibilities:

  • Work a cycle or a rotation of shifts
  • Operates self-propelled machine to drill the face in the conventional development
  • Drives the machine into position, inserts safely drill bit (s) in drill chuck (s) prior starting to drill
  • Drill blast holes onto the face at specified distances from one another
  • Good operating skills and at least 2-3 years' experience within the trackless mining
  • Ensure that blast holes are drilled in line with specified and recommended direction
  • Ensure that all the booms are directed to the right markings of the face to be drilled
  • Always test the hanging and side wall before and whilst drilling and be vigilant and observant
  • Assist with and monitor preventative and breakdown maintenance during shift (fill up fuel, oil, lubrication, etc.)
  • Assist in servicing the machine
  • Ensure that the machine is in good operating order and report any faults and inconsistencies to supervisor (s) and controllers
  • Always take instructions from the supervisor(s) responsible for the shift
  • Conduct all work according to required standards and specifications
  • Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1's safety motto: "Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely"
