Introduction

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for automating and optimizing the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and deployment pipeline, enabling the continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) of high-quality software. This role involves collaborating closely with development, operations, and quality assurance teams to streamline processes, improve system reliability, and ensure that applications are securely and efficiently deployed in a production environment. The DevOps Engineer will also play a key role in infrastructure automation, system monitoring, and the management of cloud resources.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain automated build and deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
  • Automate repetitive tasks related to deployment, testing, and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous delivery processes to ensure rapid and reliable software delivery.
  • Integrate version control systems (e.g., Git) with CI/CD tools for streamlined software development processes.
  • Design, build, and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or Puppet.
  • Manage and provision cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to support application and service requirements.
  • Ensure system scalability, performance, and high availability by automating and optimizing cloud resources and infrastructure.
  • Work closely with development, operations, and QA teams to ensure the successful deployment of software updates and patches.
  • Collaborate with developers to streamline the development and deployment process.
  • Assist teams in adopting Agile practices to facilitate smoother project workflows, promoting continuous delivery and integration.
  • Set up and manage monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic) to track system health, performance, and uptime.
  • Respond to incidents and outages, ensuring root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes.
  • Perform performance tuning, security patches, and system optimizations to ensure systems operate efficiently and securely.
  • Implement security best practices throughout the DevOps pipeline to ensure application security and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement DevSecOps practices and manage vulnerability scanning.
  • Ensure compliance with internal security policies, industry regulations, and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation on deployment processes, infrastructure configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Promote DevOps best practices, continuous learning, and improvements across the team.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior DevOps engineers and team members.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Proven experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Bamboo, etc.) and version control systems (Git).
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or CloudFormation.
  • Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Proficient in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and related services.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or Datadog.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby) for automation and orchestration tasks.
  • Experience with databases, both SQL and NoSQL, and managing database backups and scaling.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on automating and optimizing workflows.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a multi-cloud environment and resolve incidents quickly.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to enhance processes and systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or similar role.
  • Experience working in a cloud-first environment with services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Certification in cloud technologies or DevOps tools is a plus (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Terraform Associate).
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with serverless architectures and microservices.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in Agile environments.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and security automation tools.
  • Experience with highly scalable systems and load balancing strategies.
