The Grade 1 Teacher is responsible for delivering a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and life skills aligned with the Cambridge Primary curriculum. The role focuses on nurturing young learners' academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development through engaging, age-appropriate teaching practices in a structured and supportive classroom environment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • Recognised teaching qualification with Foundation Phase specialisation.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience teaching Grade 1.
  • Experience with the Cambridge Primary curriculum.
  • Valid registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE).

Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate the values of integrity, respect, and collaboration.
  • Plan and deliver engaging Grade 1 lessons in literacy, numeracy, and life skills aligned with curriculum requirements.
  • Create a nurturing, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that supports early childhood development.
  • Develop and implement differentiated teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Assess, record, and report on learner progress using formative and summative assessment methods.
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners and maintain regular communication with stakeholders.
  • Integrate play-based and experiential learning approaches to support foundational learning.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and promote positive discipline.
  • Maintain accurate learner records, attendance registers, and administrative documentation.
  • Engage in professional development, staff meetings, and in-service training.
