We're seeking an experienced Boiler & Turbine Technician to support the Boiler Engineer with maintenance, shutdowns, and projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing boiler and turbine shutdowns, inspections, and modifications.
- Support the Maintenance Engineer in managing turbine general overhauls (GOs) and maintenance projects, including renewals and Capex.
- Conduct technical investigations, feasibility studies, and root cause analyses to enhance boiler and turbine reliability.
- Prepare and update technical specifications, mechanical drawings, and procedures, including piping documentation.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and ensure compliance with legal and documentation requirements (OHS Act, ASME, PER, EN).
- Supervise contractors and vendors during shutdowns and project execution, ensuring quality and safety standards.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules, tracking performance, reporting, and budgets.
- Provide standby support when required and act in the Boiler Engineer's role as delegated.
Minimum Requirements
- NQF6: National Diploma / NH Dip. Mechanical
- Welding Inspector Level 1 & 2 (advantageous)
- 3–5 years practical experience in boiler and turbine maintenance
- Experience in welding inspections and quality control
- Knowledge of scaffolding, non-destructive testing (NDT), refractory, insulation, and cladding
- Pulp and paper industry experience advantageous
