As we continue expanding our global presence, we're looking for a Head of Risk to lead the development of our enterprise risk management framework in South Africa and beyond.

This is not a role you will design and drive a culture of responsibility, foresight, and ethical growth. You'll play a central role in shaping our FSCA-regulated entity, ensuring full compliance with the Financial Markets Act and aligning governance practices with the King IV Code. Working side by side with executive leadership, you'll transform risk from a control function into a strategic advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise risk management framework
  • Identify, assess, and monitor operational, market, and regulatory risks
  • Implement and oversee risk policies, procedures, and controls
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management and the board
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and internal audits
  • Ensure compliance with FSCA regulations and King IV governance principles
  • Serve as the key liaison with regulators and external stakeholders on risk matters
  • Train internal teams on risk awareness and mitigation practices
  • Support decision-making with risk reporting and analytics
  • Lead risk-related initiatives across multiple business units

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a risk management role within a regulated financial institution (FSP, ODP, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of the South African financial regulatory framework, FSCA requirements, and King IV principles
  • Experience developing and implementing enterprise risk frameworks
  • Understanding of brokerage operations and financial instruments
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills

Will be a plus

  • Professional risk or compliance certifications (CFA, FRM, CISA, CAMS)

    Experience working in international or multi-jurisdictional financial firms

    Familiarity with risk management tools and RegTech platforms
